Mr. J.F. Boulton, whose present position is that of an Executive Engineer on the temporary staff of the Public Works Department, applies to be put on the permanent staff of the same.
Mr. Boulton was first employed by the Government from 17th February to 31st May, 1888, in making preliminary surveys for the proposed Praya Reclamation, and was paid at the rate of $300 a month; he was gazetted Assistant Engineer on the Praya Reclamation Works from 15th April, 1889, at a salary of $250 a month; and from 1st March, 1895, his salary was increased to $300 a month, and the title of his office was changed to that of Executive Engineer. On 3rd September, 1898, Mr. Boulton applied for a permanent appointment, on the first favourable opportunity, and that opportunity having arisen, the Director of Public Works recommends that he be put upon the permanent establishment of the Colony, as an Executive Engineer, at a salary of $300 a month.
